Hi folks.
I've not been impressed with the quality of the plastic case from the factory. After shipping it back to NC once it arrived back at my doorstep warped enough one could take the gun all the way out of the case without even opening it.
I did some research for acceptable replacement cases and the consensus online seemed to be that Pelican is the de facto choice for buy-it-for-life gun cases.
I have a 6.5" Raven, so I designed a custom foam mold for the IM2200 case and got it made by Pelican. It arrived today and I'm very happy with the fit. If anyone else here has a busted up factory case and wants to upgrade, I can provide the foam mockup so you can have it made or make it yourself.
My design includes spaces for two mags, the factory thimble of gun oil, two slots for the awesome .44AMP speedloader sold by @pantera-mike and, of course, the challenge coin.
Pelican requires a 1" buffer around the inner edge of the case, so I don't think a 8.5" gun could fit into the IM2200 that I use, but there are numerous other sizes that would definitely work.
Just wanted to gauge interest with everyone here and get some feedback before releasing the design. Let me know what you think!
Wow, that’s very cool. And thanks for the shout-out! 👍
Very nice design - unfortunately I have the 8.5" (I can't believe I'm saying "unfortunately" as I feel hugely lucky) and don't have that case. The IM 2300 is probably the right one for the 8.5".
Very nice!
