All,

Shameless self-promotion here:

After using magazine loading tools for all my other guns I wondered why nobody offered one for the Auto Mag. I have a Tromix Jurras-style metal tool which works great on original magazines, but doesn’t work on the new ones. It’s exquisitely designed and made, but is necessarily expensive as a result (and no longer available, I believe).

So I sat down with a friend who is an engineer, and over the space of two months together we designed a tool that could be 3D printed. It was remarkably challenging to get the details right, and three prototype designs had to be scrapped due to various flaws. This final product has been extensively tested and it really works great. It’s proven surprisingly expensive to get them made in volume here in the USA, but the results are worth it! (I refuse to entertain the idea of having them made in China).

Patrick Henry was kind enough to authorize the use of the Auto Mag logo, a nice touch.

I’ve put them on E-bay, offered for $35 with a lifetime guarantee and free shipping:

I’m convinced nobody who shoots an Auto Mag will ever want to be without this tool!

My first production batch is almost sold out. I’ve arranged to get more made but won’t get them until the end of the month. I should have enough on hand to fulfill orders from this week however.

Thanks to all who purchased them. I’m getting lots of positive feedback, but if anybody ever discovers a problem please do let me know. I want them to be perfect, forever….

After I saw this post I went on Ebay and ordered one. It is a great tool and like I told Mike when you have arthritis in your hands loading the mags is not easy at all. I used it several times now and it is a must have Thanks again Mike....

Would you be kind enough to post the CAD files (stl, iges, whatever you got) to Thingiverse or just as an attachment in this thread so I can print one on my own printer and modify it to suit my own needs? I have another magnum that this jig is slightly too large for, but with the file I think I can modify it to suit my unusual use case.

If you don't want to distribute the design freely, would you be able to email your design to me?

Of course, in the spirit of respecting your entrepreneurship, I will NOT sell my modified design or distribute it to anyone. I already bought one from you, your work is high quality and deserves to be supported 🙂

Hi—although I am the visionary and the marketing guy, I don’t own the file. I’m buying the loaders from my friend and reselling them, basically at cost.

If you tell me exactly what you’re trying to achieve I can see if he will modify the design and make a one-off for you?

@pantera-mike

I wanted to increase the inner clearance slightly, change the radius of the cartridge ram slightly, add a radius fillet to the front and back faces of it, and add a bevel to the rear inner edge to compensate for the different angle on the mag of my other gun. I don't have specifics unfortunately, without the CAD files I can't accurately snap off dimensions of the current part. Also the tolerances for FDM 3D printed filament vary wildly depending on type, hot end temp, enclosure temp, nozzle speed, etc. With the files I'd be able to get the fit just right for all of my magnums with trial and error on multiple filaments. But if you can't/won't provide the files I understand, I'll just have to find another solution.
