Ed, I'll take a rings and springs kit, 1 extractor and extractor pin, mag loader and grip screw/oring set.
My recollection is that the Tromix magazine loaders don’t work with the new magazines, only the original ones. I can’t remember what specifically makes that true?

@radarluv55, I have you marked down for the following.

Mike, I'd say this is partially true, but I can't say for fact since I don't have a "New Style" magazine in hand to try it out. I gather from what @andyc posted (see below), that it does fit on the new magazines, it just doesn't pull both pieces of the new style 2 piece follower down together. This only means that you can't pull and lock the follower the whole way down before loading. Again, without having a new style mag in hand, the loader should be able to be used in the same fashion as one for a Ruger .22 pistol magazine. Pull down on the loader tool while inserting the rounds to alleviate pressure on the ammo stack.
If there is anyone that has one of these and a new style magazine, please feel free to chime in.
Just ordered a magazine loading tool for the Automag magazines from Tromix.com, $45 I've dealt with Tony Rumore in the past so I'm hoping it performs as well as the other products I've purchased from him. The price is certainly right if it does the job. He built these for the original mags.....I'll report back after trying.
I have one of those for the old magazines - it doesn't work on the new ones. All it does is pull down the side of the metal plate (under the plastic follower) and tilts it. It works fine on the old one-piece followers, but not the new 2-piece units.
Hi Ed, I’d be interested in the grips.
Thanks.
Dan
Down to just a couple items.
I'm going to try and attach a video I just took using the Tromix tool on the new mag.
Basically, the new mag has a plastic follower - and underneath that is a separate flat metal strip with a nipple sticking out the slot in the side of the magazine body.
Imagine looking at the magazine from the rear. When that nipple on that metal strip is pulled down (by hand or a tool), the left side of that strip is going to tilt downwards:
Video:
Fighting an intermittent, problem home-internet so apologies for the disjointed posts - I hope they've made sense. The video is of the NEW magazine - you can see how the metal tilts.
Metal plate tilted. Again, the view is seen from the back of the magazine looking forwards. The flat metal strip underneath the follower tilts - it doesn't stay flat. I hope this clears things up.
Thank you Andy! 🙂 👍
Great illustrations and video. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to explain this. I now understand what is happening with the new 2 piece follower and the problem it is causing with the Tromix loading tool.
I have a question, which I think I already know the answer. Does the Tromix loader help load the magazine at all? After seeing your illustrations above I'm assuming it may only help for the first round or two, then there is too much binding on the metal part of the follower to be of any use. I'm guessing that you have already tried.
Thank you again for all of the information.
With the advent of 3D printing, everybody and his dog is making magazine loading tools for all the popular and less-popular guns.
I note that the Auto Mag magazine is dimensionally little more than a really long (front to back) Colt 1911 magazine. They are nominally the same width and have the same front contour (the 1911 magazine is flat on the back while the Auto Mag magazine has a curved profile).
Thus the thought occurs that it shouldn’t be too hard to use a 1911 magazine loader blueprint and simply lengthen it. I’m going to see if I can get him to make me one, and if it’s successful I’ll have him put them into production.
Stay tuned….….
