Hey @timothy-evans, I am going to contact you today, I have been pulled in a lot of different directions. Just as an aside, If any one else would like to talk with me directly about your order just email me at Rob@Automag, PM me, or call me at 843-756-0362 and I will be glad to help you.  I would like this section of the forum, to the best of our ability, to be clear for production updates and general production questions. However, the holster posts have helped me a ton. I might open up a section in the forum for suggestions.

I have tried to create a new thread for general discussions or Automag purchase discussions, but have not been able to here.  I guess I don’t have permissions to do so.
would be nice to have a thread for Automag stories and such too.

Thanks for having this Forum.

I just noticed that some browsers are not loading my.automag.com. I didn't catch it because I use Firefox and it works just fine. Long story short, we will have it fixed soon. If you guys could please do me a huge favor and let me know if you notice anything like this in the future. Thank you guys.

Hi Rob.  Great work you all are doing.  Might you tell me if an Automag is ordered with the presentation box does it still come with the regular case?

Thanks in advance.

@jaay That is the plan. However, we want to make sure the foam is right for the plastic cases before we start using it because we all know what the original foam did to the 70s/80s production Auto Mags and we don't want that to happen again.

😲 😲 😲 😲 Noooo!!!  Those poor guns. 😢

I wonder if something of the stiffer closed cell variety would work or the heavy duty "beer cooler" foam you see in military cases.

Does anyone make a tool to assist with operating the slide? Got the gun but not sure I can safely load it.

@george-mcgee There is a technique to operating the slide when you first get it. We will be filming a video this week and putting it up on Youtube soon. We are also making a device that will help some customers as well.

Look down the barrel with a light first and make sure the gun is not loaded.

Cock the hammer back.

If it is not loaded insert an empty magazine.

Grab the cocking piece with your left hand and the pistol grip with your right hand.  Push hard away from you with your right hand to open the bolt until it latches.  A pair of thin gloves will help your grip.

If that does not work, hold the gun the same way and gently push the muzzle end of the barrel against something soft and padded. Push hard enough to move the barrel back until the accelerator starts the bolt moving and then pull the bolt back and lock it open.

My grip is less than half of what it was 10 years ago and the bolts are stiff to open.

Make sure the gun is not loaded!  Good luck.

I should have added this on the above post.  Once you get the hang of it and get it lubed up good, it is really not all that bad.  They are just so much stiffer than other pistols you aren't ready for it.

I bought a Jurras 44 AMP Custom 100 once that the owner nor the shipping FFL could cock.  The owner had never shot it but sent it to me on an approval basis.  I got it open after spraying a lot of CLP and by pushing the muzzle to break the bolt loose.

The gun was like new inside but was glued shut with the old dried up Caster Bean AMP oil that was used back in the early AMP days.  After cleaning it up it worked great.

@robautomag

I thought with the new redesign and improvements in the Automag that it was even easier to pull the slide back.  Is this not the case?

I was waiting for Rob to answer but I guess I will pop in here.

I have owned a lot of AMP's and the force to pull the bolt varies a lot.  The easiest I have ever shot were the guns worked over by Kent Lomont and followed closely by those tuned Lee Jurras.

I have two of the new guns and they are, in my opinion, not much easier than most I have owned.  They are certainly workable but I have to say I was expecting them to be a little easier.

That said, I am close to 72 years old and my strength and grip strength are probably half what I had at one time.  Most of you younger guys will probably disagree with me and you are probably right.  😀
