I’m frankly amazed this forum is still running. I would urge everyone to scoot over to the AMT guns forum and get involved there also to avoid getting lost. They have a lengthy thread in the new guns.
What Mike said x100. Every day I come here and I'm surprised the forum is still going too - absolutely get registered at https://www.amtguns.info/
Does anybody know about the wisdom of storing the new guns inside the foam lined plastic cases? I know the original 1970s guns were susceptible to damage from being stored inside the storage cases they came in. However I believe the foam in modern gun cases is a more gun-friendly composition. I would therefore assume it’s okay to store the gun inside the currently supplied case long-term. But has anybody heard this formally from Auto Mag?
I don't know about the new foam cases, but based on the number of guns we get through here with finish damage from soft cases, foam cases, sleep bags, gun socks, etc etc we never recommend storing firearms anywhere where clean dry air can't get to them. The foam cases can hold moisture along with the potential for chemical breakdown or corrosiveness. If in doubt, err on the side of caution. My 180 lies on it's side on the safe shelf. Golden rod running 24-7, everthing gets pulled and wiped down on a regular basis. Call me paranoid, I've simple seen to much expensive damage over the years. Like the once pristine artillery Luger stored in a zipped up soft pistol case under the front seat of a pickup truck for months..........damn! I can't even think about it! LOL
This is probably a dead horse that has been shot too many times already in the past year, but I've been away, so here goes. Eventually, Auto Mag is going to get caught up, maybe, and open up the website for business, again. But, unless they then decide to close up shop for good, they will realize how many potential customers they have alienated during their 180-day backlog, which I suspect is closer to 270 days and moving toward 360 days. The Greatest Generation is all but gone from this Earth, and us Baby-Boomers who would like to acquire and pass on an heirloom, unique to our generation, to our kids and grandkids may be, to quote Harry Callahan, 'Shit out of luck!!!' Nobody can and will wait forever, especially short timers.
Any news on the trial/court appearance?
Hey guys,
I was just rehired on Monday and have been trying to get things set back up as well as waiting on our statement to be finalized. It was just sent to me a little bit ago and I wanted to get it to you asap.
@tom-wilkinson they just turned it back on yesterday. I’m trying to get the phone system back up and running soon as well. Right now it is not ringing though.
@robautomag Also....this is good news but lots of hurdles ahead, skilled workers, cash flow, supply chain, etc etc, did I say cash flow? Hope you folks can make it all happen, from here on out, keeping your current customers regularly appraised of the accurate status of things would go a long way towards gaining some trust back.
@robautomag I just Patrick's letter and accepted his "invite" for emails. I explained that having to wait for our new Auto Mag is bad enough, but the lack of communication has probably caused the most anxiety with the folks on the wait list. That anxiety can be soothed with regularly updated lists. Now LET'S ROLL!! George
This is nothing but good news as far as I’m concerned. I have a feeling production will ramp up quickly, and I hope lessons will have been learned from this debacle. Among the most important is the need for timely and accurate progress reports and updates to the customer base. It’s better to deliver bad news on time than no news at all, and of course good news is always welcome!
Fantastic news! Hopefully we will see a list again soon…
