That's very cool - Sam Andrews is the guy whose videos on holster-making I watched to make my own for my 6.5":

Not amazing but not junk either - I'm very grateful to Sam specifically for his video on making a pattern; without that I wouldn't even have started.

@andyc May I ask what the holster cost and did you give any thought regarding a shoulder harness set up vs. the OWB model?

I couldn't tell you what it cost - I had to buy all the leatherworking tools, leather, thread, dye, sealant, etc. Probably over $150 in the end.

I gave zero thought to a shoulder holster - because I don't have the skills to make anything complex for a first try and I don't carry the Automag; I just wanted something to shove it into when at the range.

Took delivery of my new automag today, and I could not be happier. I want to give thanks to Mr. Henry for bringing a fine firearm back to the market place, and also to Rob who has been so helpful throughout the purchase process. My new pistol is all that I hoped that it would be and more.

It looks like they fixed the markings so it now longer says “Classic Edition” in quotes, which always looked silly. Who ever heard of quotes on a gun? It now ACTUALLY looks classic. Much, much better I think!

Oh, in the pic it doesn’t seem to say Classic Edition at all? Just AUTO MAG and 44 AMP. I guess the center line is invisible in the pic because of glare?

@andyc  Andy ; Safariland Holster's may be able to help you,they make several custom holsters for various defense weapons. They I believe make 2 different holster's for the Henery Mares leg and there's also a man in Alaska that makes holsters for Henery Firearms I'll have to dig his name out for you.But he actually started making the mares leg holsters first I believe and his company still is making holsters as we speak. Good Luck and happy shooting

Thank you, HJ - I think I'll first wait and see what Rob is able to arrange before thinking about custom-makers; my last experience with one was a huge waste of time and driving-miles.

@paul-wolf - thank you 🙂

That is an awesome holster that you made!!! I’ve been coming back and looking at it for a week now and I like it more and more each time I look at it. I would love to have something exactly like yours for my incoming 8.5 AutoMag but I lack the skills to do anything like that (Sam Andrews videos or not). My hat is off to you on that!!👏👏👏

Thank you kindly 🙂 I didn't have the skills either, but I went ahead anyway and if I can do it, you can.

With that said, it takes a bit of work and I'd rather buy an even better one from Rob's suppliers - if they don't cost $400 😉

Just a quick question for the group. I was field stripping my new pistol for cleaning, after a very cold trip to the range, and the accelerator dropped out of the barrel. I was able to pop it right back in, but is this normal, or should it fit tighter into the barrel assembly? This may be a dumb question, but I have never owned an automag before, and just want to know if it is normal.
