My question is where did he get the pistol?

Surely Patrick did not send a joker like him a gun to test.  I think that he bought the AMP used from someone or someone lent him a used gun to play with in his video.  I do not think that the gun was sent to him like that.

I have respect for Mr. Henry, and what he has done in resurecting the Automag from the dead. This is a black eye to the Automag. What Demoition Ranch had done in the video, deserves an explaination, or at least a clarification, on where did he get the gun, and was anything done to it beforehand. If so, he should man up, and disclose it. The world wants to know!

Has anyone contacted Automag about the video and maybe have them reach out to this guy for a follow up video with explanations?

Going by the video, as soon as he pulled it from the box the rods looked like this:

  • That guy definitely needs to make a third video and apologize for his inability to understand the mechanics of this pistol and explain why the recoil rod and spring flew out and he was at fault, not the pistol.

Patrick did send out a response to the Demolition Ranch video yesterday.  I am surprised it wasn’t posted yet, so here is a cut and paste with an explanation.

Hey Guys,

I am very disappointed in the Demolition Ranch review. It does not truly represent the new Auto Mag. Matt was using a demo gun that did not have the new helicoils installed in it yet and he completely ignored the workmanship, plus that it was totally reliable. Also, to call a recoil rod coming loose as an explosion” is just not accurate. The truth always comes out in the end. The problem with YouTube is like much of the current media is that it is more profitable to only tell part of the story that gets the most attention. If any of you would like to discuss this further you can contact us at 843-756-0362.

Lastly, If you have already received your Auto Mag, I would ask that you to send us your personal impression of your new Auto Mag so we can get our customers prospective of their new firearm.

Patrick Henry

I watched the video from demolition ranch and like most of these YouTubers they have a need to get more subscribers to get paid (also because they don't have real jobs).  They use gratuitous terminology to get viewers interested in their antics or scantily clad women.  The video was neither educational nor entertaining to watch.  I now have lost several minutes of my life that I will never get back!  Regardless, I would also want to know where he received the firearm from and what little information he was given about it.  I will have waited 3 years this coming February and when my time comes to own one, I will make my own decisions about the quality and performance of the firearm.  Thanks for your input.

@edsauer my bet is that you’ll love it when you get yours. I have two already and am waiting now on my Raven which will be my hunting rig next year.

Are the 8 1/2" still on schedule for February deliveries?  I'm getting anxious ...

I mean...I'm not trying to rain on any parades here but here is the exact wording of the last update that I had rec'd from Rob:

"We sincerely apologize for the delays and want to assure you that as soon as our production team receives 8.5” barrels (anticipated in February 2022) we will resume production of our Auto Mag® Classic 8.5” models and ship guns as quickly as possible."

Just me....but I read this as the AutoMag company is themselves expecting Feb '22 deliveries of the part (the 8.5" barrels) to them. Then, once they have those they can resume production of the Classic 8.5" models and then begin to ship. I do not read this as though we (the consumer) should expect Feb deliveries of the pistol itself to us. Realistically, I would expect at least 30 to 60 days after they get the part and have had to for the production team to go to work. But that is the last word that has been given on the barrels themselves (the part) being expected to be delivered to the Auto Mag company. As far as I know (or have heard) there are no known delays to that. Fingers crossed....

You are probably correct. My entire thought was to give these guys a chance to tell us something positive. What they are doing should be lauded as one of the best things on the horizon for the gun industry.

I sincerely hope their experience with this resurrection will be entirely positive, and possibly lead to more really desirable pieces that are no longer obtainable, i.e. Bren Ten. My first experience with the Automag was mixed good and bad of course, but made me a fan nevertheless.  It was amazingly accurate! It had a trigger pull comparable to the best 1911, which for an automatic is 2nd to none. Both of which made this handgun wonderfully "shootable", and exotic enough to make me proud to own one.

Thanks for the reply, even though the truth sometimes hurts, this will still be worth waiting for.

@paul-wolf   Just wonder if there heli-cored in there or do they have actual threads with lock tight blue on the threads? seems this can be addressed someway but we"will see,Just a thought or maybe it wasn't brand new But we should always check our pistol .I have a 10mm but never had problems with it but, I"m sure the truth will come out in the end.
