Yes, some of those Starline cases should be heading my way.  FYI: If you go to the Starline website you can place a back order for 44 AMP Brass.  This helps everyone as it shows Starline that there is demand, encourages them to put this caliber in production soon and you get your brass without fear of a sellout before you can get you order placed!

I agree with this.  I've have had a back order in for over a year (Jan 8, 2021)  I did manage to get one order before they went out of stock (Dec 23, 2020)

@beltfeded - I have had my backorder in at Starline since mid-September 2021, really hoping that they manufacture some new ones in Feb/Mar!!!

Here's a new topic I have been pondering.  I have (3) brand new production 44 AMP magazines.  2 are drop free and 1 is not.  Normally, I want drop free magazines on all of my Pistols.  Since the 44 AMP magazines are the World's most expensive pistol magazines,  I'm thinking it's not a bad idea to have 1 magazine that is not drop free for when the Zombie Apocalypse hits. What do you guys think?

Well, that opens a kettle of fish...

The AM isn't a combat pistol, so the typical fast reload isn't very likely to be needed. There's also something to be said for a mag that doesn't drop free and get lost - the old European heel-style mag-releases had their benefits. I have actually seen a guy lose a mag in Iraq (but he had plenty of spares, so nothing more than a temporary inconvenience for him).

I generally like to be able to just drop an empty mag out myself, but given the price/scarcity of these mags - it might be wiser overall to have them stick a little 😉

Here is a seller offering what appears to be once-fired Starline brass.  500 cases currently at $155:

@bob-cohee

Bob you can add the Bushnell Banner pistol scope also to the ones that wouldn't hold up

Had one on my 44mag and it blew the center crosshairs out of it,We all just laughed and I took it off ,sent it back to Bushnell they sent a new one back.

Put it on a 22cal Ruger still on it to this day! seems that was a problem back in the day, that's why they started etching in glass--end of that problem anyways

This may be a dumb question and I apologize, but is Excel Arms involved with Auto Mag Ltd anymore?  And if not, I’m just curious, what happened?

I was told there was a dispute over production costs and production capacity that was not going to make the project work.

The first 22 Founder's Editions were produced there and probably some higher numbered ones also.  Founder's Edition # FE-06 was just listed on GB and was marked Excel.  I dealt with the seller but did not buy it.

Many reliablility problems were discovered in the early production firearms and Patrick went back into redesign to build a pistol he could be proud to sell and that took several more years.

I did pick up these  barrels on GB several years ago and they are all marked as Excel products.  There are two 6 1/2" VR high polish 44 AMP's marked  "Classic Edition", a 10 1/2" Plain high polish 44 AMP marked "Classic Edition", and a 10 1/2" plain high polish 45 Win Mag marked "Founder's Edition".

Andy I think the emphasis was pertaining to the Quality on the drop mags, but I would be more concerned about the rods backing out when shooting than, I would the mag issue.

@hjsheppeard - Kinda hard to guess someone's point when it was so vague, but I tried my best to answer based upon what seemed to make the most sense to me.

FYI...the rumors of Starline manufacturing 600K new 44 Automag brass in February must be spot on....SBR is now showing "in stock" ammo for both the hollow point and FMJ in 44 Automag. This is available for pre-order as of today and they expect shipping mid to late March. So the new brass from Starline must be either incoming or already rec'd by them.

Anyone want a new Automag Model 180D, 6.5” barrel, high polish, G10 grips and wood grips included.

Purchased the Raven Auto Mag model and have no need for two AutoMags.

Will sell for exactly what it cost me from Auto Mag Ltd and you do not have to wait 2-6 months to receive it😀

Feel free to contact me and I can provide photos and price if needed
