Nice post pics when you get it. Mine is an optimistic 6 weeks away from shipping. If it doesn't make it across by early Aug suspect it will be too late. I'm still holding out hope but who knows ....
Does anyone have any suggestions for making the magazines easier to remove? Like maybe polishing their sides or something like that. When I press the magazine eject button I still have to use my fingers to pry out the magazine, it is so tight. Or is this something that will ease up after lots of use?
I really enjoy shooting this Raven. It is so comfortable to shoot. I don’t see a need for rubber grips to cushion the recoil. It just isn’t the problem I thought it might be.
This gun is awesome!!
@packhawk Your Raven looks awesome but also I couldn’t help but notice your Gulf Shores tee shirt. Are you from that area? I’m asking because I am originally from Mobile, AL (very close by). Live in Birmingham now, but grew up in that area.

You didn’t mention if the magazine is tight all the way through the insertion-removal process, or only a portion of it. If the magazine initially inserts fine and only gets tight at the end, and similarly withdraws with difficulty initially, and then falls free, the culprit is likely the magazine catch. It may be protruding too far, and dragging on the magazine. Once the magazine is past the catch it then moves freely.
if the magazine is tight throughout its movement range, you have another issue. Perhaps a defective magazine, or a flaw inside the frame where excess material was not fully removed during the assembly process.
You didn’t mention whether this issue manifests with multiple magazines, or only a single one.
Many more specifics are needed to help diagnose the problem accurately….
It is tight all the way and with both magazines. They can be removed but need to be pried out with my finger tips first then after enough of the magazine is exposed I can grab it and pull it out. It is the same for both magazines.
Took a friend to the range today to let him shoot the Raven. He is very interested in getting one. We had a lot of fun shooting this beautiful gun. It got a lot of spectator attention at the range. Lots of folks remember hearing about them years ago and didn’t know that they were back in production. Now they know they are back.

Are there capture marks on the magazines where you can see they are dragging? It sounds like the problem is near or at the bottom of the magazine well. Perhaps some judicious filing is called for?
No marks on the magazines that I can tell yet. I’ll work with inserting and removing them more. It may smooth out but I’ll keep an eye on them and see if I can better define what is going on with them.
This won’t stop me from shooting this Raven however. It is just too much fun to shoot.
Thanks for your help.
@packhawk: your friend interested in a 6.5” High Polish that I received last December
NIB with many accessories
Wow, judging by the muzzle flash, that must have been a little loud at the inside range. 😀
Just a bit. Lol
It stopped all activity on all 12 firing lanes for a bit because everyone wanted to know what I was shooting. A few had heard of the Auto Mag but didn’t know they were back in production. Everyone agreed that it was a beautiful gun and those that fired it thought it shot great and was very comfortable for a big magnum gun. Hopefully those folks will look into buying their own soon.
I was shooting SBR 240 grain 44amp rounds. They feed and shoot great. The flash is a bonus I think for range shooting. Lots of fun!
Soft, he is interested but the funding is a factor right now as he is trying to pay off his house.
@packhawk I don't doubt it that you got a lot of attention. I go to three different ranges, one of which is indoors and allows you to shoot anything under 50 BMG. But I think I'll try the outdoor range first. 😉
I have noticed that while shooting the Raven that the ejected brass sometimes comes straight back towards my head. Eye protection is a must.
