I was hoping someone else would bring this up.

How come Gun Jesus's test AMP cocks so easy?  I have three of the new Auto Mags and none of them cock as easy as that one unless Jesus is a lot stronger than he looks.

I was wondering the same thing.  After the videos, I was questioning whether I will really need the charging assist tool...

I was wondering the same thing.  I assume the gun he is using has had a lot of rounds put through it and that it is very broken in.

I hope my Raven will eventually function as smoothly.  It is still a range stopper whenever I go to shoot it.  Everyone wants to know what it is.  And that’s just my Raven.  I imagine when I get my very shiny 8.5 inch it will be just as popular, maybe even more so.

I have the same issue with hard cocking. Have to push the barrel down on the bench to start the bolt turning before I can cock it back. Have the cocking tool and it is at the breaking point before it moves the barrel back far enough to allow the bolt to turn. Going to send some pictures of the gun into Rob and see what he says. I think the finish in the front lugs and inside where the bolt is on the barrel is to rough and locks up on friction. Mine feels like sand paper when I move the bolt back and forth.

@lsb-gunsmith

I have a Raven and two of the "Founder's Editions" that take a lot of force to cock the bolt.  I finally bought a cocking tool and it is much easier.  I feel most of the trouble is that I have lost a lot of strength to old age and arthritis in my hands and shoulders.

I have not experienced the difficulty that you describe.  I feel all of them would get better with use.  I do not experience the grittiness that you describe either.

Thanks for posting this.

It would be nice if AutoMag would post that stuff here.

I no longer do FaceBook.  Too many problems there.

It’s completely ridiculous that they don’t. This is THEIR forum for sharing information with customers (and potential customers). We are generally older and more affluent, and are less likely to do TikTok, Facebook etc.  While sharing info there secondarily certainly has merit, considering that they create and own this platform entirely, it should go without saying that any and all news and updates should be released here primarily. They are undercutting their own efforts by failing at this most basic task.

I think they are poised to succeed in spite of themselves, but have to wonder why they fail to capitalize upon this great tool that they created for this express purpose?

Very well put.  I refuse to use Facebook and other social media, so this is my only resource to keep up with production.

Got to share a first for myself..At the range with New 44 auto mag ..Put mag in drop slide and fire away ..all good ( hard to pull slide back at first ) Hand gun to shooting friend , He nervous, big gun, expensive gun , never shot anything like it ! Shoots one round ! His long thumbs and far forward thumb bring PULLS THE SLIDE RELEASE AND SLIDE FLYS OFF AND HITS THE FLOOR !!! I am in shock WTF  1 I have a ton of emotions at the moment and of coarse a little embarrassed.( stop fire on whole range ) so old fart can pick up his toy ! Good news no damage to slide and barrel assembly ( little mark on end of barrel, hard to see ) Gun is working fine ! Never happened to me before Good note gun very accurate and not too much a monster !

Wow.  Thanks for the warning.  I'll tell my long-thumbed friends to make sure they keep them low on the gun.

Glad there was little damage.

I've only had AutoMags for a few years so I'm not one of the old-timers yet, but there are at least 3 bits of wisdom specific to AutoMags I learned from those experts before I even picked up my first:

1. Never drop the bolt while pointing the pistol at the floor.

2. Keep your thumbs away from the disassembly lever while firing.

3. Keep an eye on the recoil-rods - never shoot the pistol when those are loose and typically check them after firing each magazine.
