Question out there for those who have received their Automag. Was your pistol shipped in a hard case and the presentation case sent separately?

I received my Founders Edition in the wooden presentation case.

seems though with the long wait it would be quite upsetting for the presentation case to get damaged during shipping. I can personally attest from my unfortunate experiences that UPS doesn’t really give a rats a$$ about how they handle the packages they deliver. Did your case arrive in perfect condition? What happened to the closed cell foam lined plastic case that AutoMag to my understanding was using / going to use for shipment of the gun?

@blatz62 The case was not damaged.  I seem to remember back in the forum you mention this and thought it would be shipped in a case also.  Hmmmm.....

because there was a prior problem with the earlier AutoMags going way back probably to the Pasadena days, decades before where we are now, and the foam used in those cases did some damage to the finish of the gun, there was a short discussion about cases and case manufacturers, use of open cell versus closed cell foam (Rob and the team) with some pictures posted here as to what the likely candidate was going to be. I only remember this because I offered a suggestion to Rob, a company out of Utah called Peak Case Company, they make custom firearms shipping and storage cases of all types https://www.peakcase.com/ . I had one made for my Mossberg Shockwave. It’s awesome!

I have FE-39 - it was sent before the plastic case had even been chosen, I believe (Feb 21 2021).

It arrived in a big cardboard box inside which was a lot of blister-padding surrounding another box containing the wooden case; it was very well-protected and the wooden presentation case suffered no damage at all.

I was correct - I received my pistol late Feb 2021 and here's Rob on Jan 4th (the forum dates look weird) mentioning that the plastic cases were still prototypes then:

Yep….this is what I remembered, so was a plastic shipping case ever approved? Anyone know more?

@timothy-evans    When I received my 6.5 inch brushed stainless version a few months ago it was shipped to my FFL in a plastic case and the Presentation case was sent to my home. This was part of a “Promo” when I ordered my gun if I prepaid in full.  I was glad they did that because one of my Presentation cases from my Founders Edition guns was damaged in shipping because the pistol shifted inside the box and tore up the interior.

@blatz62 Thank you for finding this, it's the post I referred to earlier but could not find.  This is why I was expecting my pistol to arrive in a plastic case and the presentation case sent separately.  I did revisit the 8.5 sales page (the 6.5 is different) and the promotion read will include a presentation case and challenge coin $270 value. If it read upgrade to a presentation case, I would not have expected the plastic case.  MHO the gun is much safer shipped in the hard plastic case.

I have been more than happy with the AM team, they are truly doing a great job and trying to get everyone's gun out as soon as they can. It would be nice to hear from the team and clarify what the expectations are.

I'm not bitchin, so if this is all I can complain about then they are doing a great job!  (Yea my wife says I complain a lot also)

Again, thx for the update.

Are those Air Soft Auto Mag pistols physically the same size as the actual Auto Mags?

If so, then they could be used as an Auto Mag blank for a holster form.

@lane-freeman Thanks Lane!  BTW thanks also for the tip on Fury bullets.  I received both the 44-40 and .475.  Just what the doctor ordered!  Not cheap but you get what you pay for, they both shoot great and solved the set in problem with the .475

No problem Tim, I’m not bitchin’ either, the AutoMag team is for sure busy and like other small Businesses, they have been stressed to their proverbial limit, and they definitely keep moving forward, one success at a time, one step at a time, even with other external factors clearly beyond their control. Rob has always been available to answer questions when needed even just to talk and I know AutoMag takes considerable pride in the products produced. I’m in no hurry to receive mine, but also I know it will be absolutely 100% right in fit, form and function as the saying goes, a few more months waiting is not an issue. Would even like to upload range day as a video when that day comes, it’s gonna be awesome 😎 BTW, not really computer savvy, can anyone help with directions on how to do just that? Is it possible?
