Are those Air Soft Auto Mag pistols physically the same size as the actual Auto Mags?
If so, then they could be used as an Auto Mag blank for a holster form.
Does anyone have any experience with those Airsoft auto mag pistols?
I do not think that polishing the recoil rods makes the pistol easier to cock but it may smooth up the action when firing. I have always lubed the recoil rods and I think it helps smooth up the action. You do this by reassembling the rods and springs dry and screwing the rods in tight. You then cock the bolt and lock it out and add lube to the portion of the rods sticking out.
I think that polishing the bolt rotation pin helps smooth things up also. You can polish the sides of the slot in the bolt that the pin rides in also. Rounding off any sharp edges on the slot also helps. Pay special attention to the portion of the slot that initiates the start of the bolt rotation.
Doing some light smoothing on the bolt lug edges is probably the biggest help. Look for sharp edges and slight burrs. Be careful, don't over do it.
I decided it was time to take my 6.5 inch brushed stainless pistol to the range to make sure my test loads and the pistol functioned correctly. I went over the gun before going to check my ability to cock the gun after was hearing several having problems. As long as I cock the hammer first I don’t have a real problem racking the slide. I did buy the cocking tool and it makes it very easy but I don’t need it for this gun; maybe I will on the others. At the range I had 2 failures to eject on the first magazine but after that I ran through 7 more mags without a hiccup. It was pretty hot today so I stopped at that point. My load was 22.5gr H110 with a 240gr XTP bullet. Recoil was less than I expected so I may bump things up to 23 or 23.5 gr to test for best accuracy and final sight in. She runs great and is definitely a keeper……VERY happy with it

We are talking about these, I presume:
I have held one years ago. They are very light because they are plastic, but they are dimensionally more or less identical to the real thing, I think. They could be used as a holster pattern, I would guess?
Thanks for the post Mike. Just the response I was hoping for.
Range Report SN99
Much like Lane first magazine had 2 fails. Mine were failed to fully close. Magazines 2-5 ran flawlessly. Out of the box put a few drops of oil on the slide and bolt. I plan to clean and grease prior to the next outing. I like to run mine wet until they break in. Yea it’s an effort to charge more because of reaching around the rear sight but I’m going to take Patrick’s advice and run a few hundred rounds before I get an option with a new tight pistol.
Now this is where I got impressed. I went to the range with a friend of mine that was dialing in his new AR 9. Somewhere along the line I just open up the box and said hey check this out and started shooting. It dawned on me I was shooting at 85 feet. Not expecting much I went down to the target and had shot a 3 1/2 inch group with mags # 2&3. Not believing it I repeated similar groups with mags 4&5 with a couple of flyers.
For an old man shooting offhand this gun is repeatable! Wow
It's a bloody accurate piece - here's my first shot ever, 25 yards:
I know Automag is working on holsters for the new AutoMags but has anyone found one of the “More Generic” holsters that fits the Automag. An inexpensive nylon holster is good enough for now, like an Uncle Mikes or one of the other mass production holsters. Just looking mostly for protection from bangs and scratches for now until I can get something better. I’ve looked briefly at what was available at local gun shops but nothing in stock for a large Auto Pistol
Sadly, no. I was eventually forced to make one for my 6.5" a couple years back but I haven't yet bothered for the new 8.5" model; some Uncle Mike type would be useful.
@andyc nice job on the holster. I finally gave up and ordered a nylon holster for a 6 inch Desert Eagle 50AE. Hopefully it will be close enough to fit my 6.5 inch Automag. It was cheap enough so if it doesn’t fit I won’t have lost much. If it works I’ll post a picture
Actually it just arrived. A little short in the barrel length but fits great other than that.
I couldn’t ask for more since there doesn’t appear to be any Desert Eagle in 8 inch length. It definitely serves the purpose for $30
