Just received mine today.  Can't thank Patrick and Rob enough for their help.  Can't wait to get it out.  It is a beauty.

Quick question.  There is a a bit of play between the barrel and frame- like an older 1911.  Just wondering if that was consistent with others?

The sights are mounted on the slide, so it doesn't matter if there is a little slop, it's normal, and it has no effect, as far as accuracy is concerned. How much is a bit of play? On a 4K gun, I would hope not much. You are the first complaint on that issue, I have heard of.

@gbertolet I'm just curious if this is by design or if there is a range of tolerances, so I'm asking other member - is there any movement between the frame and barrel assembly on your sample or is it tight?

@canoe Mine was tight when I got it. It is now loose, but smooth and easy to cock. I didn’t see any change in accuracy.

Hey gang, I received my 8.5 inch CE about 3 weeks ago and was not able to move any lead thru it until this past weekend......

Long story short....after 40 rounds with 2 different loads on Starline brass I had a single jam...stove pipe....that I honestly must attribute that to me having a less than stiff wrist to allow the bolt to cycle properly under recoil.  (The jam occurred with the first fully loaded magazine...second shot).

I am not going to post my load data here as my loads were simply to get initial feel and performance on both my loading for the AMP cartridge and recoil and cycling of the action.  Accuracy appears to be where I expected.  Given the loading....I suspect this will improve.  All is well.

Patrick and company....the workmanship is exactly where it needs to be.  Clearly going to need to move a few more rounds thru my CE to get it settled and properly broken in.  For those still waiting for their AutoMag....it is worth the wait.  I placed my order in April of 2020.....and am very pleased.  You will be too.

All the best,

Rory

Good afternoon Rob-

Thank you for the update, and especially the production list.

I think I speak for all that we understand that the improvements being made are worth the delays as the final product will be light years better than the original. 👍

@robautomag

Thank you for the update and list.

Cannot wait to get my hands on my 8.5 Auto Mag!  Love my Raven too.

Have waited for one since 1975, and to finally get the Raven was an emotional event I must say…lol.

I’m number 28 on the list and looking forward to getting it when it’s ready.

Thank you all at Auto Mag for all you have done to bring these awesome guns back and making them better, safer, and reliable.

If you want a custom holster for your Auto Mag try Sam Andrews Custom Leather.  He made the holsters for the latest version of the Magnificent Seven movie.  He does great work.

He made holsters for my wife’s Smith and Wesson .357 cross draw and my 1911 from Python hide that my wife had.

Once I get my 8.5 inch Auto Mag he will make me a shoulder rig with magazine pouches for it.
