Why is the November 21st update the same as the October 27th? If 10 pistols are being produced every week, I would have expected to move up 40 spaces. Are the pistols still being produced?

I’m thinking they may have uploaded the older version of the document accidentally. There’s no way I’m still #40 after a month of production, right?

I don't pretend to know what is being produced, but I do know that a friend of mine who is past #10 on the list received his on November 11th.

It looks like they are not updating it for some reason.

Patrick and the AutoMag crew appear to be cranking them out, the list just needs an update.  I am 14 on the list as posted and have my pistol almost 2 weeks already….everybody stay calm

Thanks Bob—yes I got the new springs and recoil rods from the new Auto Mag company and it didn’t help.

The rods unscrew a certain amount with each round fired. If allowed to continue unchecked it would prove to be a disaster. Reportedly loose rods can result in the ears breaking off inside the cocking piece, or the back of the bolt breaking off. So the only thing to do is keep them tight.

Supposedly the new guns have addressed this issue with a different profile to the rear of the bolt and face of the cocking piece.

I don’t ever have a problem with my 357 Auto Mag.

I don’t shoot them as much as I would like right now, but anticipate picking up the pace and will hopefully start shooting them several times each month. I’ve got tons of powder, primers, bullets and brass. The only thing I don’t have enough of is time. But life is short, I’ve had four friends die in the last two months (two of them were only 59 and 61), and what good is unburned powder and unfired bullets when I’m in a box in the ground????

  • My second original Auto Mag had one recoil rod that was lose and would not stay tight.  I replaced the helicoil on that side and it's now stays tight.  My thinking if you allow the recoil rods to run lose it will wear the helicoil and the recoil rods will not stay tight.

I check the recoil rods after every magazine.  A good sign that the recoil rods will remain tight is when unloseing the recoil rods they will make a slight 'metallic tink' sound.

My three originals make the 'tink' sound when disassembling for cleaning and do not come lose when checking after every magazine.

Just received mine today.  Can't thank Patrick and Rob enough for their help.  Can't wait to get it out.  It is a beauty.

Quick question.  There is a a bit of play between the barrel and frame- like an older 1911.  Just wondering if that was consistent with others?

The three originals (A and B) guns, with five barrels between then, all have some movement when the bolt is retracted and much less when the gun is in battery.

I have never had the problem of the rods working loose where I thought it was going to be a real problem.

If I did, I would replace the helicoil like dsr did.

If replacing the helicoil does not work I would try using some Purple Loctite (#222) on the threads.  This is Loctite's "weakest product" and is made for small screws and very fine threads.  I would apply a small drop to the rod threads and let it dry before re-assembly.

I have two original Auto Mags. One of them stays nice and tight with the referenced ‘tink’ upon loosening. The other resolutely refuses to stay tight, loosening up a quarter turn after just one magazine. I’ve changed helicoils twice, using ‘locking’ helicoils which have some red compound apparently intended to provide some locking action. Nothing seems to work. I’ve also changed recoil rods twice, and even deliberately damaged the threads in an attempt to create an element of intentional cross-threading. Nothing seems to work and I can’t figure out why.

I do know that loose recoil rods inevitably lead to broken lugs on either the bolt or cocking piece….

Now the link to the order list appears to be broken…

I called twice about it. Calls just went to voicemail, with no call backs, so far.

Good news. I did finally get a call back. Was told there is a new sales team there, and they were working on updating the wait list, and repairing the link.

Any idea what is going on at Auto Mag?  I’ve called them multiple times lately and left messages and have even emailed them about returning my Raven for repairs on an RMA but I have not heard anything back.  Going on two weeks now.

There is a bit of turmoil going on at the sales department, so return calls may take a while. According to the person that returned my call, there has been some trouble with receiving outsourced parts, which is slowing production, especially of the 8.5" barrel Automags. If you can't get all the parts you need, you can't complete many guns. I was told that I did move up 4 places on the list, as of late last week, since the Oct 27 list. At least that's a positive step. Be thankful that Automags don't use silicon chips.
