I have wanted an Auto Mag since I saw the cover of a paperback book in the early 70s. Finally got one, can't wait to hunt with it! Feels great with the Pasadena style grips.
I just received my notice last night from the company. I have been wondering if this would happen. I have been looking at the order numbers and the prices being charged per pistol and it has looked like this has been a very large financial drain on all of the investors. It does not look like there is any way that this has come close to covering even the R & D expenses much less any wages for employees up to this point. They were either going to eventually go bankrupt as all the previous owners had done or have to find a way to vastly expand operations and get these guns into a much larger production line. I just hope that the quality does not suffer with this change. I was actually hoping that they would partner with Standard Manufacturing when I saw the email stating that they were moving to Connecticut. Standard Manufacturing has been making incredible copies of famous old guns. I have a SAA that they made that has such an incredible fit and finish that they put the old Colt's to shame. Unfortunately, after reading a press release shown in an earlier members comment this is not who they are now working with with this move. My Raven is a beautiful pistol but I did have to send it back for a repair after my first trip to the range. I was very impressed with the response from the team and the extremely fast repair time. It was in and back in my hands in under a week.
This will most likely increase the collector value of the Raven I already own. I should see my 8" polished pistol in the near future although I am expecting it to have to have the new address on the gun instead of the SC address. The last number I saw had me around #180. I think that they will also need to be able to bring the prices down in order to increase the sales. I know of many people interested in this gun but who cannot justify the price for a novelty or limited use pistol.
Has anyone been able to talk to anyone in SC yet about any of this? Is Rob still with the company? Has the move already happened since it seems like things have been very quiet for almost 2 months now?
Very nice Dodgeramcharger!
Also curious about the relocation, didn't all of the gun companies in that particular state leave due to the hostile environment towards gun companies?
…leaving a lot of skilled labor behind. That may be a factor in the decision to move. What’s not really clear is the relationship between Patrick Henry and this other entity. Originally he had contracted with Excel to produce the guns for him, and when the wheels came off that deal he decided to try it on his own. Now we are hearing from a third entity that they are taking charge and moving the operation but we haven’t actually heard a peep from Auto Mag themselves in the form of Patrick (or Rob). Are they still running the show, or are they out? What about Tim Bell? Has the company been sold, or is this new outfit simply taking the role Excel was supposed to have? Who will existing, waiting customers be supposed to communicate with? Is Auto Mag itself still going to be located in Loris, or is the company moving wholesale to CT?
Considering the fact that Patrick set up this forum exclusively for the purpose of sharing information with his customer base, he has done a remarkably poor job of it, leading to rampant speculation and a lack of confidence. I personally admire him and wish him nothing but success in this most noble enterprise. I certainly hope he will emerge and engage with us and personally tell us exactly what is going on, whatever that may be.
In a sense, this is history repeating itself, as the owners of Pasadena, Notth Hollywood, El Monte TDE, High Standard, and El Monte OMC guns can attest….
@pantera-mike I'm hoping this is just the beginning of another chapter in the next book. It would be interesting to the collector's that we are if Patrick were to sit down and tell us all about it. I bought mine to shoot, but it might be a collector's piece now.
Thank you for the info. I am a little more hopeful now. 😉STRYK Group USA and Angled Spade Technologies Have Been Engaged ... https://twobirdsflyingpub.wordpress.com/2022/12/16/stryk-group-usa-and-angled-spade-technologies-have-been-engaged-by-auto-mag-ltd-co-for-industry-expertise/
There is not much info out there on these two companies that I can find.
STRYK Group is a marketing consulting group, as they said, with several high profile Gun Manufacturers as clients.
Angled Spade Technologies is a company just formed in August of this year. I can not find anything about Mike Bush. Matt Dulude and Joe Salvador are both prominent Designers/Engineers in the firearms field located in the Northeast United States.
Sounds like an eventual buyout to me. You bring the manufacturing consultants to the factory, you do not take the factory to the consultants. JMO
@bob-cohee I think that is where this is going, I do get the feeling that this happened a month or so ago. The thing that concerned me the most was that a group of investors would take over with little experience. At least on the surface, it looks like these are gun guys for the most part, maybe the baton is being passed to the right guys. I can't imagine Patrick throwing away all of the hard work he has invested here, I would say if he is willing to go with this, I trust his vetting. If he is handing over the project, then I thank him, Rob, Tim and everyone else who brought us this far. And yes, I am waiting for another one too. Chins up!
Dang it, I forgot to mention it earlier, several guys were looking for holsters a while back. I picked up a vintage Safariland model 101 for my 6in Smith.41 mag, and it fits the 6 1/2 CE very well. I saw several of these holsters on eBay for 8 3/8 N frames, I would think the 8 1/2 barrels will be right too.

I agree. I'm sure that Patrick has vetted these guys thoroughly and is confident in their abilitities to get the job done. All in all I feel it is a positive move forward for the Company.
Let's face it, 10 pistols a week can't be paying the bills.
This may eventually be a very positive move for the company, only time will tell. I do consider myself lucky as I may have received one of the last Loris,SC pistols to be produced. It was my 4th and I received it just 30 days ago
@bob-cohee Angled Spade is a new (August) registered company in Wyoming by a Andrew Pierce and was helped to be created by Cloud Peak Law LLC by Mark Pierce attorney... so not sure what they do or how they are connected to this announcement both Email in regards to Connecticut and the business engagement of the 3 announcement... Time will tell hopefully....................................... Interesting
@midauto
To me it sounds like the Wyoming info is just the Attorney's for the Company. I suppose that Wyoming is a much better business climate to set up your business in than Connecticut.
The Company may be a Wyoming Company but it sounds like all the action will be in Connecticut where the Company Princpals are located.
Santa was pretty good this year, I have no idea where my wife found these, but they look great! Vintage grips, no markings. Hopefully there will be more new guns soon!
