Can anyone tell me if the original seven round magazines will work with the new Automag?
I'd have to try - I have 1 original (and some janky copy I bought on eBay in desperation). Aiming to go shoot some tomorrow but I'm pretty sure the new mags are much better.
My original consecutive pair of Pasadena AM180 models both came ~ with only ONE magazine each in the boxes....so I tried aftermarket types....with less than stellar results.
Harry Sandford and his very nice secretary Miss Love....were very apologetic about their inability to ship with the expected TWO magazines in each carton....and assured me that
if my father and I would take our pair...the back-ordered magazines would follow shortly.
YUP...still waiting.....
TDE magazine on my .357 was only fair....and the other few I have snagged over the years only had ONE magazine each with them.
I trust that what I see here from Loris, S.C. production will far surpass anything I've known to date in the Magazine Department (and more)!!!

Was asking because there are aftermarket automag magazines for sale on Gunbroker and eBay for $50-60 each vs. the $145 on this web site.
@softsounds Not all modern-ish production magazines are the same. The ones from Triple K feed okay but the pin won’t activate the bolt hold-open on either of my original Auto Mags.
The new Auto Mag outfit got a whole bunch of uncompleted leftover original magazines when they first started up. Tim Bell assembled a couple for me that worked great.
reportedly there is a third supplier who sells magazines he is making himself? I’m not really sure what the story is there. They appear on EBay and/or Gunbroker (I can’t remember which) from time to time. I don’t know anything about them. The guys on the original Auto Mag forum would likely be able to shed more light on the situation.
I asked Rob this question during one of our conversations, and he in turn asked Patrick, and the word I got is that the specs on the new magazines have been changed from the originals. I watched a video of the triggered episode on the return of Automag, and in the video, Patrick showed how the new magazines sit a bit higher than the old ones, so as to improve feeding. The video is available on youtube. Just search for Dirty Harrys 2nd most favorite gun, posted by triggered.
Thanks for responses and looks like we all buy the $145 magazines if you want more than the supplied two magazines
Just got back from the range and the new mag was 100% reliable with 7 rounds - the original failed to lift up 2 of 7 and failed to lock back as well.
