Here is the stock/brace attachment.

Is the stock legal by ATF standards or is there an exemption. Not trying to be a wise guy but truly am curious.  I know the broom handle Mausers had an issue and today it is hard to find a stock with the attaching iron because ATF considered it a SBR unless you had a tax stamp for the Full Auto version. People took the attaching iron off and tossed them because then ATF didn’t consider it a stock since it couldn’t be attached to the pistol.

My understanding is that it is covered under the Curios and Relics classification.  There are not many of the AMPs with the stock/brace option because most buyers did not want to go through the ATF paperwork and stamp fees when they purchased their pistols which was requried at the time.

Thanks for that clarification……interesting bit of history.  Beautiful gun and a very rare piece!

Here is a couple more of the L.E. Jurras Custom pistols.

The long barreled one is a Jurras Custom 300 Alaskan with a 12" barrel.  The grip is "dovetailed" to accept a stock/brace.

The other is a Jurras Custom 400 Backpacker with a 4 1/2" barrel.  Both are chambered for the 44 AMP cartridge.

I’d love to see Patrick produce a 4 1/2 inch barreled version……that is really nice

Here is an unusual AMP barrel that I just acquired.  I bought it at an auction and the auction house knew very little about it and the owner was elderly and could not give them any information either.

It is a 10 1/2" fully polished and partially scroll engraved.  There are no markings on it what so ever. It is chambered for the 30 caliber Lomont Magnum Pistol cartridge (30 LMP).  A sample cartridge is shown with a 44 AMP round.  It came with the Buehler Scope Base and Rings and I added a period correct Leupold Scope.

I have researched this barrel through Larry Grossman and Bruce Stark also and neither knew of it's origin.  It was probably an unfinished barrel from the factory or Lomont and sold to someone who finished it.  I think it is a very neat piece though.

@bob-cohee wow that’s amazing! It makes the purchase of the barrel seem much more rational. 👍

@bob-cohee that is AWESOME! This is what I was talking about, only I was thinking a nice taper to the smaller diameter shown any maybe bell’s at the end for accepting a threaded cap for adding a break or suppressor later on.

For the 30 LMP to cycle you must keep the weigh of the barrel down.  That is why they all have a very slim profiles.  I really don't think that Lomont ever really got the 22 and the 25 LMP's to work.

I really like the profile of this barrel, you should see it in person.

Adding suppressors or comps will not work on the small bores.

@bob-cohee I am wondering if 8mm (7.92x33mm) Kurz would be a caliber that might be good as well. There are dies and ammo out there.

There are some barrels around chambered for the 8mm KMP (Kincel Maynard Pistol).  Brian Maynard and Eric Kincel worked on that one.  I know notheing about it.

What is the pressure on the 7.92X33 Kurz, is it high enough?

I know RIA got .22TCM to work, it looks very similar...

Not even close, apples and oranges.  Not in anything close to an AMP.

The 22 TCM is a 38 Super case necked down to shoot 40 grain 22 caliber bullets out of a 9mm 5" barreled 1911.  It has a light slide and a weak recoil spring.

Lomont and Jurras got the 30 LMP working but it took no bullets less that 130 grains and 150 grains was more reliable.

@bob-cohee the 7.92×33mm Kurz has the same base diameter as the .44 AMP. If opened up a little would almost work as .357 AMP as well. Max pressure 49,313 psi. Velocity with a 125gr bullet shows as 2,250 fps from a carbine.

It would probably work if the over all length is within parameters.
