There! Math! It proves to us what you already know empirically. Thanks! 👍
We've been told that Patrick has contacted RCBS about bringing back the reloading dies for the .44AMP.
Has anyone pursued having the .44AMP dies custom made? If so, by who and do you have any thoughts around this approach or their manufacture?
Would really enjoy hearing anything on this if anyone has something they'd be willing to share.

I have never tried to get RCBS to make any custom dies but I have had CH4D make some. They did a run of 357 AMP taper crimp dies for me.
I could not find any 45 Wildey Magnum dies anywhere or even any drawings. I fire formed about 6 cases and sent them to CH4D and he made several sets.
The problem is they are usually booked way out, 5 or 6 months, I do not know about right now but I expect it is a long wait.
@bob-cohee Last time I talked to CH4D about getting dies made (standard caliber, not custom) they said their wait was 2+ YEARS, with no promises.
I was able to get one of your 357AMP taper crimp dies from them, so thanks for that!

That is kind of what I figured Mike. I would bet that RCBS would not be much better.
I have dealt with Dave at CH4D, I think he is the owner. He and Kent Lomont were good friends. Dave shot Auto Mags and machine guns with Kent. He tells the story how Kent bought a pickup load of some surplus belted European round for next to nothing and converted a water cooled machine gun over to it. They linked up 20 ea - 250 round ammo cans of belted ammo and ran a 5000 round string off without stopping somewhere in Pa. Dave said water was shooting out the water jacket 30 feet into the air. I think he cut down a fairly large tree with it. 😀
@bob-cohee Thank you a ton for your response to my question on custom .44AMP dies.
I suspect that I will be receiving my .44AMP brass from Starline in the coming weeks and am more than a little eager to sit down and the bench and getting my hands dirty. Nonetheless, the brass is not here yet.....and I'll just have to cool my jets a bit longer.
Thanx again Bob!
I have a couple of sets of the older RCBS 4 die automag sets if someone is interested in them.
I'll step aside on those and let someone who really needs them go for it.
interested in dies but as far as I can tell the forum doesn't have a way to DM anyone. what's your asking price?
I cant quite remember what I paid for them anymore. Been a few years ago that i bought them. How does $175 including shipping sound? I think I gave around $150 a set for them.
Y’all better grab the die set for 44 Automag that someone is selling for 175.00 ! There is no inexpensive ones out there . I have two RCBS sets and a Hornady set and paid dearly for them. Also the sets for transforming 308 cases for reloading 44 Automag are pricey also ! Thank God I have a good bunch of them also..WAITING on my gun to be finished and in my hands
@kyle-cwach sounds good, email me at magnum.otto@protonmail.com and we’ll work out the details
