Lots of 44 AMP die sets on eBay right now. The laws of supply and demand have increased the supply and prices have dropped quite a bit. I wouldn’t assume anything except the expander from a 44 magnum (revolver) die set would work for 44 AMP.

500 for a set of dies where I only need one. Yeah no

Hence the question.

does ayone have the case dimensions?

Since ammo for this handgun is hard to come by and I reload.

Is there any issues using a .430 diameter bullet vs. the recommended .429 diameter bullet?

The .429 diameter 240 grain bullet seems to be nonexistent or out of stock everywhere,  but the .430 240 grain can still be found.

The standard bullet size for 44 Magnum (and 44 AMP) is .429-.430.  Speer and Nosler claim their bullets are .429, Sierra says .4295, and Hornady says .430. The only factory ammo out there these days uses the Hornady .430 XTP.

At this point, use whatever you can get!

What Mike said. I use .430 bullets with zero issues.

I want to try my hand at reloading 44 amp. Can someone give me a good recipe?  Thanks.

"Good" is subjective. I run 22.5 gr H110 under a 240gr XTP bullet for around 1,300 fps.

Here are the relevant pages from the Hornady manual. I view this as the most modern and responsible data out there.  Note that they used rifle brass which is thicker and has a smaller internal volume than Starline pistol brass. This means you will get lower pressures and velocities with a given powder charge if you use Starline brass. Page 1 here:

Oh, and I also use 22.5 grains of WW296 or H110 (which, by the way, are exactly the same powders sold under a different label) with 240gr Hornady XTP bullets.

I was unable to edit my post above. I actually use 23.5gr of WW296 which delivers 1358 fps. I tried 22.5gr and got 1250 fps but numerous failures to cycle properly. SBR factory ammo delivered 1367 fps.

@andyc I thought your load sounded about right so I loaded up a bunch.  Hopefully I won’t experience the same problem as @Panteramike.  Just waiting for my 6.5 inch to be delivered. Hopefully soon since I received a phone call to verify my FFL shipping address around XMas
