@andyc I thought your load sounded about right so I loaded up a bunch.  Hopefully I won’t experience the same problem as @Panteramike.  Just waiting for my 6.5 inch to be delivered. Hopefully soon since I received a phone call to verify my FFL shipping address around XMas

Well, as you're no doubt aware, reloading is about determining a decent load for your specific weapon but that load has worked pretty nicely for me in both my original 6.5" and my Founders 8.5"; it was actually recommended to me by the previous owner of the 6.5" and I've seen other folks recommend the same load.

I do have to note that, similar to that which PanteraMike implied above, it could have used a little extra oomph in the early days of my 8.5" as the recoil-springs were extremely strong which affected ejection to a very minor amount, but things have now settled down quite nicely.

As for your pistol, I hope you get it quickly - you'll enjoy it 🙂

I have now all components to reload - except brass.....Starline & Graff have been out of stock/backordered for at least 3 months now. The only other place that I know to purchase would be to enter the over-priced bidding for the few that come available on Ebay (which I have not yet been willing to do). Things may change when I actually receive my pistol. But is there any other place to source brass that I may not know about?

Other than making cases from .308 brass, I'm not aware of any other sources - perhaps the other lads here might have some ideas.

I do not know of any other.  Star line is what I bought a while back.  I do have a set or two of the case forming dies to make it from 308.

You can watch eBay until doomsday and will never see Auto Mag brass there—or any other brass. eBay will not allow sellers to sell brass or bullets.

Auto Mag brass comes up on Gunbroker from time to time. Just two weeks ago a friend bought hundreds of new, unfired 44 AMP Starline cases there and paid under 40 cents each for them.

if you want to go the DIY route there is a RCBS case forming die set on eBay right now with an opening bid of $300. Personally I would wait.

I initially got my brass by purchasing SBR loaded ammo, although I did subsequently buy a bunch directly from Starline.

You might want to ask Auto Mag themselves? After all, they are shooting zillions of rounds and are probably up to their eyeballs in spent brass? Surely they can spare 50-100 to get you started?

@andyc yes, I am aware and spend probably much more time at the bench then the wife would prefer.  I just received and set up my new AutoTrickler V4; that should cut down a bunch on time throwing powder charges.  Wish I had that before I loaded these 44AMP rounds.  Anyway, that load seemed like a good starting/target load to get things broken in and was about 1 grain below max in most data I found. I hadn’t thought that cycling would be an issue since it certainly wasn’t a low charge.  But if it is I will load up small batches after I receive my pistol and test for accuracy and speed over a Chrono to get it dialed in.

The email is correct.  Did you include the "dot" and the end?  Don't, that was just a period to end the sentence.
