FWIW one of my son’s magazines is behaving the same way. Locks back when round #6 is fired leaving #7 in the magazine. Pulling back on the bolt and releasing it chambers the final round. I will let him know about this proposed Fox. Thanks!
For me, the slide would lock back with one round left in the magazine....Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?
In a 1911 pistol, I would say that the slide is outrunning the magazine's ability to feed the last round up in time for the slide (bolt in an AM) to catch it - and the reason it only happens on the last round is because the magazine spring is at its weakest then, under the least amount of compression.
I'm no Automag expert but I've seen this same phenomenon in a helluva lot of other handguns.
It looks like I definitely missed my chance to get a cocking assist tool from AutoMag. Would anyone be willing to share some pictures with a few key internal dimensions so that I can try and design and make my own?
